Three decisions shape the whole trip.
Get these right and the rest of the week takes care of itself. Each one has a guide that ends in a clear answer, not a list of options.
Where you sleep
Taghazout, Tamraght, Anza or Agadir. The village decides your evenings, your budget and how far you drive to the waves.
Compare the four villagesHow you arrive
Agadir Airport is 25 to 50 minutes from every base. Know the fixed taxi fare before you walk out of arrivals.

Surf camp or DIY, Paradise Valley or the souk: what is worth your time and money, with the drawbacks other guides leave out.

02 / Where to stay
Four villages, one coast road. Taghazout, Tamraght, Anza or Agadir: which base suits your trip
They sit within an hour of each other along the N1, so you can surf, eat or explore in any of them. Where you sleep sets the pace, the price and the walk to the water.

Prices in dirhams and euros
Taxi fares, camp packages and meal costs are confirmed with operators on the ground, then converted at around 10.8 MAD to the euro.
Drawbacks, not just highlights
We say when Taghazout is too crowded, when Tamraght’s hill is a slog and when Paradise Valley’s pools run low.
Commercial ties disclosed
Where a link can earn us a commission, we say so, and we only recommend operators we have inspected or worked with.
Quick answers
Planning questions, answered
Short answers to the decisions most travellers get stuck on before an Atlantic coast trip.
Should I base myself in Agadir, Taghazout, Tamraght, or Anza?
Choose Taghazout if you want vibrant surf village energy, co-working rooftop cafes, and walkable access to famous point breaks. Choose Tamraght (3km south) for a quieter, 25% cheaper hillside vibe ideal for beginners and yoga lovers. Pick Agadir city for 4-star resort amenities, nightlife, and calm swimming beaches for families. Choose Anza for the most consistent waves and lowest living costs on the coast with zero tourist hype.
How do I get from Agadir Airport (AGA) to Taghazout or Tamraght?
The distance is 48km (about 50 minutes). Official Grand Taxis have fixed official rates displayed at the terminal exit: 200 MAD to Agadir city, 300 MAD (~€28) to Tamraght and Taghazout. Pre-arranged private transfers booked through surf houses cost €30–€35 and meet you with a nameboard inside arrivals. Public bus (ALSA line 105 to Inezgane, then line 32 or 33 to Taghazout) costs under 20 MAD but takes 2.5 hours with multiple changes.
Is it cheaper to book a surf camp package or accommodation plus lessons separately?
For solo travellers and beginners, an all-inclusive 7-night surf camp package (€360–€550) is typically 25% to 35% cheaper than paying for a private room, daily board rental, 6 days of lessons, airport transfers, and meals independently. For intermediate surfers travelling in groups who already have equipment and rent a car, booking a self-catering apartment and exploring spots independently is more economical.
What is the best time of year to visit Agadir and the surf coast?
For surfing, October to April brings consistent North Atlantic groundswells with clean offshore winds and warm winter sun (20°C–25°C). For sunbathing, beach relaxation, and beginner warm-water lessons, May through September offers calmer seas, warm ocean temperatures, and guaranteed sunshine with gentle coastal breezes.
How do we verify prices, stays, and excursion operators on ToMorocco?
Every price, coach ratio, and itinerary on ToMorocco is verified directly on the ground by our local team in Souss-Massa. We do not accept sponsored rankings; our guides list real pros, honest drawbacks, taxi benchmarks, and exact verification dates so independent travellers avoid common tourist traps.
